Arrivederci Roma
Arrivederci Roma is one of the best-known Italian songs in the world, thanks to the perfect mix of three winning elements that are recognized abroad as the typical iconography of Italy, in other words, love, food, and the irresistible charm of the Eternal City, making the song a fascinating postcard. More than 60 covers of the song have been recorded, in English, French, Danish, Dutch, Spanish, German and Finnish. Some of its best-known foreign interpreters include Abbe Lane, Mario Lanza, Connie Francis, Cliff Richard, Vic Damone, Perry Como, and Dean Martin. It has also been a favorite of the big orchestras, with recordings by Frank Pourcel, Perez Prado, Xavier Cugat and Paolo Mantovani. It was made into a film in 1958, entitled the Seven Hills of Rome (in Italian, Arrivederci Roma), directed by Roy Rowland and starring Mario Lanza, Marisa Allasio and Rascel.
