Questo piccolo grande amore -This Great Little Love, reached number one in the singles charts on December 16th 1972 and stayed there for six more weeks, becoming the fourth best-selling single in Italy in 1973. But when we take into account the numerous reprints and re-releases in various formats (45s, long plays, CDs) and the live and studio reinterpretations by Baglioni alone, the song turned out to be the all-time bestseller in the history of Italian discography. During the Festival of Sanremo in 1985, Questo piccolo grande amore was awarded as “Love song of the century”, during the broadcast of the RAI’s “Fantastico 5” which ended a few weeks prior. In 2009, the song then became a film of the same title, directed by Riccardo Donna. Baglioni made a successful recording in Spanish, while notable covers were made by Mina (1986) and Fiorello (1991).
