Ballads and narrative songs

Stories that have been passed down over time, by word of mouth, and have crossed geographical and linguistic boundaries. This is what popular ballads are, none of them have a certain origin or recognized author, but they survived into the third millennium while generating different versions, from Testamento dell'avvelenato (Lord Randal in the Anglo-Saxon countries, namely the source of A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall by Bob Dylan) to Fiore di tomba from which derived Bella Ciao. The playlist features pieces from various professional and amateur sources, impromptu performances and folk-revival arrangements.
