Canzoni veneziane playlist

Venetian songs

Songs in Venetian dialect have certainly never had the widespread popularity, also international, of the Neapolitan song, or, in terms of national territory, of the Roman, Florentine, Milanese and Piedmontese songs. But they exist, and this playlist documents them, a small tradition of songs in Venetian dialect that certainly do not compete with the rich repertoire of the Tre Venezie popular traditional songs, but that somehow bear witness to the use of the Venetian dialect in the sphere of the modern song. A trend that developed again in the 1950s, continued in the 1960s thanks to the use of dialect in political songs and re-emerged even later, in the 1990s, thanks to the rediscovery of regional languages by new generations of musicians.
