Fascist songs - vol. 1
Legionaries, Balilla (children aged 8 to 14 belonging to the homonymous Fascist youth paramilitary organization), Figli della Lupa (children of the she wolf) and Italian Youth of the Lictor were among the intended recipients of many songs and anthems that Fascist propaganda spread in the years when consensus was manipulated also through free time activities and ceremonials organized for the many public occasions. By far the most popular was the song Giovinezza (Youth), the Party’s anthem based on the adaptation of a melody from an operetta with lyrics that faithfully reflected the figure of the leader and the importance of youth as an ideal to aspire to.
