Second World War songs
The Second World War offered fewer occasions to sing than the First, due to the completely different context where the fighting took place both in terms of strategy and technological resources. In those years songs reached the front mainly through the radio, and one in particular was able to capture the spirit of the time: the German song Lili Marlene, which made a big impression even within enemy armies. However, it was primarily the Resistance that originated a vast songbook opposing the regime.
