Sanremo international

During the 1960s, the Sanremo Festival enjoyed great credibility and popularity in international record environments. The extraordinary worldwide success of Nel blu dipinto di blu had sparked the interest of the English, American and French record companies for this musical event which rightly presented itself as the best national showcase for Italian song. Soon the Spaniards, Brazilians, Yugoslavs and even the Turks were also interested in the songs of Sanremo. They wanted to perform them in their respective languages and in this playlist you will find Spanish, Portuguese and English alongside Croatian and Turkish, as a partial testimony to an endless series of versions in other languages of the songs of Sanremo, which we may perhaps tackle at another time. Some can be recognized by the title, others by listening to them. Because they are famous songs, there is no problem in identifying them. And it’s still a nice surprise to hear them sung in another language.
