Sha-la-la-la-la  -  Camaleonti - Collection of singles 1965-1966

They embraced the beat without hesitation but the first formation of the Camaleonti arrived at their recording contract under Miki Del Prete’s Kansas label in 1965, after performing at the First Beat Meeting in Milan. Their repertoire was mainly based on Italian versions of American and English beat hits, with the rare original song, a repertoire that effectively had its test run in places where that kind of music found more and more space, starting with the Piper Club in Rome and Paip’s in Milan. Their strength in this early phase was the singer Riki Maiocchi, who in 1966 left the group to pursue his own solo career, replaced by Mario Lavezzi. With him were Livio Macchia, vocals and guitar, Tonino Cripezzi, vocals and keyboards, Gerry Manzoli, bass, and Paolo De Ceglie, drums. This playlist documents their first five singles, two of which were “tris” records, namely records with two songs on the B side instead of one.
