Torero - The cha-cha-cha in Italy
The sound of the fifties is deeply marked by the invasion of Latin dances. Most notable among these was the cha-cha-cha, launched in the world by Xavier Cugat and Abbe Lane, who were even hired by Italian state television to teach it to the Italians. This rhythm of Cuban origin became a base for composition able to turn any melody into a danceable tune, as well as to create planetary successes. One such success, Torero, was also the second Italian song of the decade (after Volare) to enter the US Top 20 chart.
